I woke up Tuesday morning at 4:30am, this time it was voluntary. Why would anyone want to get up that early? Three reasons huge air, beautiful sky and amazing pictures. Our session was at 5:30am at the Layton, Utah skate park.
Last Tuesday I had the great opportunity to take photos of Shaun McBride. Shaun has been skateboarding since the age of 15. He currently works for New York Life. His wife Jenny says “it is funny to see Shaun go from suit and tie to flying through the air on a skateboard.” Shaun feels it is important to keep a balance between college, work, and play. Skateboarding has helped Shaun keep this balance. “There is something about the unlimited creativity of skateboarding that keeps me in a constant progression and helps me to get back up every time I fall.”
“Many people think these extreme sports are for youth or for lifelong rebels, I am here to prove it is much more than that!! I chose a career at New York Life where I enjoy helping people prepare for their financial futures or protect those they love using Life Insurance. It took a lot of studying and hard work to get my business started, but now things are running smooth and I couldn’t be happier.”

Last winter I was able to photograph Shaun and some friends snowboarding. Although Shaun loves snowboarding his true passion is Skateboarding. He has meet some amazing Skateboards, and has even skated with Tony Hawk. “Being able to capture this progression with pictures and video has been something I have always enjoyed, but not known much about, Lighting Bryan Photography was able to take one morning at the skatepark and depict exactly what skateboarding is for me: FUN!”
“My parents for watching me a million times when I would say “one more try, watch” – My wife for all her support – Decade Snow and Skate for always putting on events and carrying the products that keep me excited about skating – Lighting Bryan for his time spent at the shoot and editing – and of course a shout out to my GE crew!”
